Your questions, answered.
A short reference for new and prospective patients. If you have a question that isn't covered here, please call either clinic — we're happy to help.
What happens on my first visit?
Your first appointment includes an extensive history, a thorough postural and physical examination, range-of-motion testing and, where appropriate, a referral for X-rays. Michael will then discuss his findings with you and recommend a care plan tailored to your situation.
Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?
No referral is needed for a standard chiropractic consultation. Referrals may be issued by your chiropractor for X-rays or for Medicare-covered services where appropriate.
Can I claim with my private health fund?
Yes. The clinic uses HICAPS, which processes most major Australian health funds instantly on the day of your visit — you only pay the gap.
Do you treat children and infants?
Yes. The clinic welcomes patients of all ages, from newborns through to seniors. Techniques and force levels are always matched to the patient.
Is chiropractic adjustment safe?
Chiropractic care is widely regarded as a safe, effective and drug-free approach to spinal and joint problems. Michael uses a range of techniques — from traditional diversified adjusting to very gentle instrument-based approaches such as Activator and Impulse — and will select the most appropriate technique for you.
Do you treat Workers Compensation, DVA or CTP patients?
Yes. The clinic treats patients under Workers Compensation, Third Party (CTP) claims, and the Department of Veterans' Affairs. Please bring your claim details to your first appointment.
How long does a standard consultation take?
Initial consultations are longer to allow a full history and examination. Standard follow-up visits are typically focused and efficient — most patients are in and out in under 30 minutes.
What should I wear?
Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing is ideal so that movement assessments and adjustments aren't restricted.
Which clinic should I book at?
Both clinics — Dapto and Albion Park — are staffed by Michael and his team. Choose whichever is more convenient for your schedule. The two clinics run on different days, so check the opening hours for each location.
Is chiropractic only about back pain?
No. While chiropractic is well known for treating back and neck complaints, the underlying focus is the function of the spine and nervous system and how that affects overall health — headaches, posture, sporting performance, pregnancy-related discomfort and more.
